Abigail is officially 6 months and 2 weeks old! Felipe and I looked back through her birth and newborn pictures tonight. It's amazing how much she's changed in just a half a year! We recalled how unbelievable her birth was, we were both in utter disbelief and shock that our perfect princess had actually arrived!
She had a rough couple of days this last week, it looks like one of her top teeth is coming in (which would make 3 chompers). She's been doing the Army Crawl for a couple of days now and particularly goes after my cell phone or the TV Remote. I think I'm going to get her her own cell phone, so she can can stop chewing on mine, and her own TV Remote- so she can quit changing the channel while Mommy and Daddy are watching something!
She had her six month checkup last week. She now weighs 16 lbs., she's 26 inches long and her head is in the 75th percentile :) There are lots of brains in there!
Guess what I have for you? A video of Abigail doing her Army Crawl! Lucky Day!
I'm so honored that God chose me to be Abigail's mom! I decided that perhaps blogging would be the best way for me to document milestones, firsts, and fun and special moments with our special girl! I hope when she begins to read, she'll read this and feel important and loved.

Holy Roller!
Sunday Abigail started to roll- and ROLL! She's been rolling over for a couple of months now, but now she's on the move. I've put out a cotton blanket for her on the floor, you know the mother in me, trying to protect her from the "dirty carpet", but she really likes to roll off the blanket and onto the carpet and touch it with her hands. I think she likes that it's scratchy like her daddy's goatee! :)
I've been really trying to work with her on developing fine-motor skills. So far she really prefers to explore things with her feet :) She plays her piano, touches me and Daddy's face...with her tootsies.
Today I wiggled my fingers, and made my hands big and small and she was moving her fingers too, so I think she'll catch on soon :) We'll be making Patty Cakes and Tortillitas in no time!
Tortillitas - the Mexican equivalent to Patty Cake
It goes like this:
(Clapping your hands in a rhythm like you're making hand-made tortillas)
Mommy like Tortillas
Steaming Hot and Yummy
Make them round
and nicely browned
For Daddy's hungry tummy
As it is right now, she really like to eat her tortillas before we get to the Steaming Hot and Yummy part. :) I keep telling her she'll get sick if we don't cook the tortillas first, but she takes no heed. Good thing they're make believe, or else she'd have a tummy ache.

Getting Started
Only a week until Abigail officially turns 6 months. I can't believe it's been that long since that miraculous day she was born- however I also can't wait until she becomes more active and communicates with us more! I'm already seeing so much of her personality and can't wait for her to be able to express that fun personality even more!
Just this last week she got her 2nd tooth, and once she got over the pain of it coming in she started "talking" more- lots of gaaaa gaaaa kaaaa kaaaas and squeals. All of which are super adorable. She's rolling around, and is really good at kicking. She popped Daddy in his eye this afternoon. Maybe she'll be a champion Mixed Martial Arts fighter, who knows. The options are limitless! Speaking of Daddy- she totally digs him and smiles big when he comes home from work each day and blushes when he gushes over her- telling her how much more "chula" she's gotten since the last time he saw her.
Chula=Cute
I've been stocking up on books for her, I just hope that as she grows she has an interest in them! I've collected books in English, Spanish, and Bilingual English/Spanish books. I'm a follower of the blog: Latin Baby Book Club, it's given me a lot of good recommendations for Bilingual and Bicultural books. The books that I really enjoy reading with Abigail are "Fiesta Babies" which has the cutest illustrations, and is mostly in English but with Spanish words thrown in. My favorite part goes: "Fiesta Babies love fiestas! Almost as much as they love...(turn the page) Siestas!" All the fiesta babies are at the fiesta sound asleep. Too cute! The other book I enjoy reading with her is a flap-book, where you lift up the flaps. It's called "Donde Esta el Ombliguito?" (Where's the Bellybutton). Super cute illustrations and I get to tickle her belly button when we get to that part. I wish it had a "where's baby's cheeks" page...I adore Abigails kissable cheeks and can't keep myself from giving them a kiss everytime I pick her up.
Okay I think that's all for now- Hasta la proxima!
